What does "don't try to be perfect" mean?

"I think sometimes we can hold ourselves to such a high standard that we don't put an idea forward until we've thought through every possible way it could be wrong," Shravya says. "Meanwhile, someone else is just thinking, 'this is an idea I have, so I'm going to put it forward.'"

It's a habit she's working to change in herself. "You don't have to understand everything 100% before you speak. Nobody knows everything. People just know the information they have and the reality they are working with."

"Put your thoughts and ideas out there. People might challenge them, and that's okay. If you're wrong, you've learned something. If you're right, you've gained confidence and can move things forward. Either way, you've got more information than you had before."

Why it matters for women in AI

At semiconductor industry conferences, Shravya has noticed that "the technical spaces can still be very male-dominated." She was surprised by how few women were in the room.

But she's optimistic.

"The women I've met in these spaces have been incredibly smart and technically strong, and seeing more women coming into these roles has been really encouraging."

Putting ideas forward at yieldHUB

yieldHUB is a yield management platform for the semiconductor industry. It centralizes and cleans manufacturing and test data, so engineers get to the truth faster and gain complete clarity on yield and OEE.

With expertise in statistics, engineering and machine learning, Shravya turns research-level ideas into tools that work in real production environments. Her favorite project, analyzing wafer-to-wafer correlations, was "probably the most challenging project I've worked on, but that's also what made it exciting." As she puts it: "I like projects where you don't immediately know what the answer is."

She also knows that good ideas need context.

"The data we're working with isn't just data. There's a whole process and a whole set of people behind it." And she's realistic about AI: "If everything could be fixed with AI, there would probably be something important being overlooked."

The takeaway for women entering AI

Shravya's advice is simple: don't wait until you're certain. Share the idea, learn from the challenge and keep moving forward.
